The samsonite skywheeler range of hardside
polycarbonate luggage is becoming increasingly popular.
Features include injection moulded polycarbonate shell for
durability and lightweight handling. It benefits from spinner
wheels which can rotate a full 360 degrees eliminating the
awkwardness of turning corners that you usually get with wheel
based luggage. Other features include a button release
retractable handle and a total weight of just 9.9 pounds.
Dimensions are 14 x 19.9 x 27 inches. In a choice of black and
grey, this oozes style and quality, just check the photo if you
are not convinced. It also benefits from the prestigious
samsonite brand name, which has a long history of producing
quality and reliable stylish luggage.
Our Verdict: The first
thing that strikes you upon seeing the samsonite skywheeler
luggage is the sleek design. It really does look the part, and
the polycarbonate hardside shell looks far better than your
average nylon based luggage. Upon closer inspection, you get a
sense of the solid design, everything feels reliable and reeks
of quality.
It's polycarbonate hardside design will
prevent the luggage, and any contents inside from damage caused
by the rough handling that passenger luggage receives on any
journey, and you can be sure that after making this purchase,
you are unlikely to need to make another for many years to
come. I would expect this to last for at least 10 years if not
more.
Not only is it durable, lightweight, and
stylish, but it is also functional. It has all the extras,
features, and security measures you would expect from a top
brand manufacturer like samsonite. The 360 degree wheel system
is a pure joy, as you are able to manoeuvre the luggage with
ease. The extra two wheels make a significant improvement,
whilst their added weight is negligible. The suitcase weighs in
at 9.9 pounds, many suitcases of a similar size weigh in at
over 15 pounds. Whilst most airlines only allow 50 pounds of
luggage before imposing charges, the extra 5 or 6 pounds in
weight that the case saves you can really make the difference
between having to pay a charge and not. For a frequent
traveller this could add up to a sizeable sum in savings.
You can pick up this model of the samsonite
skywheeler for about $260 which is a very competitive price for
what you are getting, particularly when you consider that it is
a samsonite product. If you are looking for a light weight,
durable, easy to manoeuvre and stylish suitcase, then this
ticks all the boxes. >click here for more

Titan

Titan have entered the polycarbonate luggage
market with multiple collections, most notable of which is the
Titan diamond collection. Within the titan diamond collection
are multiple models, from small carry on cases through to
family sized suitcases and everything in between.
The Titan Diamond 27” polycarbonate trolley
(Dimensions: 27" x 21" x 13) weights in at 10.4 pounds.
The first thing that strikes you about the
titan is the exterior pattern finish, which is a unique looking
texture which seems to eliminate the possibility of the case
ever getting scratched. It is extremely resilient.
You can be sure that even after many years
of travel, the case will still have the appearance of being
new. I can’t see this one ever becoming aged and ugly. You can
expect to pay over $400 dollars for this model, which i believe
represents great value considering its lifespan and what you
are getting for your hard earned dollars.
This model has the same 4 wheel 360 degree
system of the previously mentioned samsonite, for easy
manoeuvrability. The main distinction between the titan and
samsonite is appearance. Both have their own unique look,
however both have similar functions and the benefit of a
polycarbonate outer shell. >click here for more

Tumi Vapor Polycarbonate

The Tumi range combine polycarbonate with
ABS plastic. The main distinction that the Tumi range has over
its competitors is the addition of raised bumpers,
strategically placed at all the major stress points of the case
to give it even more durability. It also has a very high glossy
type finish that gives it a real designer expensive look.
Tumi models are therefore more expensive
than its competitors, averageing at around the $500 mark.
However you are getting extra features and durability for your
money. The downside is that the model is not pure polycarbonate
due to the addition of the ABS plastic, however the durability
is more than made up for by the addition of the bumpers. In our
opinion the Tumi looks the best of all the collections, so
definitely one for the style conscious.
These are just a sample of some of the top
brands that are producing polycarbonate luggage. >click here for more
